Additional Information
The use of Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy has gain popularity in recent years with the use by high profile athletes such as Tiger Woods and the Pittsburgh Steelers’s Hines Ward. The human body has a natural ability to heal itself from most injuries.
A large part of this ability lies in the healing potential of the many growth factors found in our platelets, a component of human blood. The technological advancement in separation and concentration of a patient’s blood platelets for injection into his damaged body part, is an amazingly elegant tissue regenerative technology.
$50 per Standard Consultation (Excluding investigations, medications and treatments). As every patient is unique, our doctor will need to fully assess your condition before formulating a comprehensive treatment plan for your medical condition.Although it is not always necessary, it is sometimes useful to perform X-rays and other investigations for a more accurate diagnosis. While medication sometimes has a role for short term pain relief, most patients will benefit more from the newer non-invasive solutions such as shockwave therapy.
Product and Services
Shockwave therapy is a well researched medical treatment using mechanical pressure waves that work on the body to stimulate repair and pain relief. It is validated by years of clinical use as well as extensive medical studies.
Shockwave Therapy has been used for many years as a safe, non-invasive treatment alternative to surgery that uses strong pressure waves (extracorporeal shock wave energy) to relieve many tendons and muscle disorders. Originally used to disintegrate kidney stones, Shockwave Therapy has since evolved and successfully treated many soft tissue conditions.
Shockwave therapy has been used for multiple conditions including, neck, back and knee and shoulder pain. It has also been used for heel and elbow conditions.Shockwave is a non-invasive and relatively safe treatment. During treatments, a probe is applied on to the affected area and several thousand impulses are administered. The impulses are delivered through the skin as a shockwave that spreads inside the injured tissue as a ‘radial’ wave. These radial shockwaves initiate an inflammation-like response in the injured tissue that is being treated, and prompts the body to respond naturally by increasing metabolism in the injured tissue.
Some older shockwave devices tend to cause more pain and may require the injection of a local anesthetic. If excessive force is applied during treatment, some patients may experience bruising and even increased pain for a few days after the treatment.Newer shockwave devices generally offer more comfortable treatments and do not need a local anesthetic injection.
